DMCC: choose a working environment, not just a licence.
DMCC stands for Dubai Multi Commodities Centre. This free zone covers the Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) and Uptown Dubai districts. It is associated with trading, but also hosts services and technology businesses: the word "commodities" does not limit every company to raw materials.
Its value should be measured against your daily reality. Do you need an office to receive clients, space for your team, or professional relationships in a specific sector? For a fully remote activity, weigh those advantages against the full cost of the package and its renewal before choosing this address.
The price of a DMCC company setup varies with the package, the workspace and the residency needs. In particular, compare Basic Biz and Jump Start on what they include, not only on their displayed amount. A visa quota indicates a capacity to apply; it does not mean all the visas are paid for.

DMCC for trading, consulting or technology
DMCC presents several professional ecosystems, notably around trading and new technologies. For your project, start from the service or product sold, then check the corresponding activity. Joining a sector community does not replace obtaining the approvals needed for a regulated activity.
A trader must be able to explain their buying and reselling chain. A consulting firm must describe its engagements and its clients. A technology company must specify whether it sells development work, software or a different service. This information serves the licence choice as much as the preparation of the banking file.
Flexi desk or office: choose according to your use
DMCC requires a registered address within its perimeter and offers different spaces, from the flexi desk to a dedicated office. Do not treat the flexi desk as a permanent private office: ask about the conditions of use, availability and the options for receiving clients.
If you are hiring, look at the number of workstations, the rental budget and the visa options together. If you mainly work at your clients' premises, compare the cost of the space with the actual use you will make of it. Also anticipate the conditions for changing formula as the team grows.
DMCC or another Dubai free zone?
Our advice: keep DMCC in your comparison if the district, the office and the professional relationships on site bring concrete value. For a light structure with no daily presence, also compare Meydan and IFZA on a quote with equivalent activities and residency.
For a business that handles stock, complete the comparison with JAFZA, DAFZA or Dubai South according to your flows. An office address and a logistics solution answer two different needs; check how they fit together in your organisation.

about company formation in Dubai
No. DMCC also hosts services and technology companies. The exact activity must be validated; the name of the free zone is not enough to determine which licence you can obtain.
The public DMCC page describes a special flexi desk eligible for one visa. That capacity should not be presented as a paid visa. Ask for the details of the residency pathway and its fees in the proposal.
DMCC offers a digital incorporation procedure. That does not remove the in-person steps if you apply for a residence: the medical test and, where required, the Emirates ID biometrics are separate from the company formation.
A registered address within DMCC is required, but a private office is not the only solution offered. The choice between flexi desk, coworking and office should reflect your activity, the team and the terms of the formula.
No. The Ministry of Finance specifies that the free zone regime depends on the QFZP conditions and the nature of the income. A DMCC licence does not, by itself, amount to a tax exemption.
