Our review of Meydan← All jurisdictions

Meydan: a Dubai address, a remote setup.

Meydan Free Zone allows foreign entrepreneurs to own 100% of an LLC-FZ in Dubai. Incorporation can be completed remotely and the company can start without immediate residency.

It particularly suits consulting, digital, tech, SaaS, marketing, light e-commerce and international activities. Its limits matter just as much: a workshop, a warehouse, regulated premises or complex mainland operations often justify comparing RAKEZ, Dubai South, a sector-specific zone or the mainland.

To assess the price of a Meydan company setup, start from how you are organised: working remotely, relocating to Dubai yourself or hiring on the ground. These choices determine your residency needs and the fees to add to the licence. Square Zone helps you compare the launch budget and the renewal.

Pricing and detailed fees

The rates below separate the licence, the visa allocation and the residency pathway. An allocation reserves capacity but does not include full visa processing.

Before you dive in.

Regular or Fawri licence: how to choose?

Regular is the most flexible formula: several shareholders, over 2,500 activities, up to three groups and an indicative timeline of 1 to 5 days depending on the pathway.

Fawri targets a single founder who values speed. Meydan advertises issuance in under 60 minutes for eligible files and over 1,800 activities. An eligible non-resident can apply remotely with their passport. Visa options must be confirmed in the quote.

Activities, limits and alternatives

Meydan is relevant for consulting, marketing, IT, SaaS, training, content, trading and light e-commerce. The exact wording must match your revenue, contracts and banking file.

Compare another jurisdiction if your activity requires a warehouse, a workshop, specific premises, a sector authorisation or a significant operational presence on the mainland.

Visas and Emirates ID

The company can exist without a visa. If you relocate, the allocation opens a separate pathway: immigration file, visa application, status change or entry into the UAE, medical test, biometrics and Emirates ID.

Meydan allows up to six allocations depending on the formula. Each residency and each immigration step must be costed separately.

Business bank account

No firm can guarantee a bank account opening. The bank reviews the activity, the founders, the source of funds, the countries involved and the commercial substance.

Square Zone prepares the presentation of the activity, the supporting documents, the forecasts and the commercial evidence, then targets the institutions consistent with your profile.

Taxation and compliance

A free zone is not a zone without obligations. The company must handle Corporate Tax, accounting and, where applicable, VAT. The 0% rate of a Qualifying Free Zone Person only covers certain qualifying income and requires meeting all the conditions.

VAT registration in principle becomes mandatory beyond AED 375,000 of taxable supplies and imports. An accounting analysis remains necessary to apply these rules correctly to your activity.

Regular is the flexible formula: over 2,500 activities, several shareholders possible and a timeline generally quoted at 1 to 5 working days depending on the pathway. Fawri targets a single founder and issuance in under 60 minutes for eligible files, with over 1,800 activities.

No. Incorporation and licence issuance can be completed remotely. The official Fawri page also states that an eligible non-resident can apply with their passport. A physical presence becomes necessary for the medical test and biometrics if you apply for residency.

Meydan lets you configure up to 6 visa allocations depending on the chosen formula. An allocation reserves capacity: visa processing, the medical test and the Emirates ID remain separate fees. The Fawri quota must be confirmed in the quote.

The Regular licence gives access to over 2,500 activities and allows up to three activity groups. Some regulated activities require an external authorisation. Square Zone checks the classification before submission.

Yes, a free zone location does not automatically exempt you from VAT. For a resident business, registration in principle becomes mandatory when taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 over the last 12 months, or are expected to exceed that threshold in the next 30 days.

No. The bank reviews the activity, the shareholders, the countries involved, the source of funds and the commercial substance. Square Zone prepares the file and supports the exchanges, but the decision always rests with the banking institution.
