Ajman: from coworking to warehouse, depending on your activity.

Ajman Free Zone, or AFZ, is the free zone authority of the emirate of Ajman. It registers FZEs, FZCs and branches, issues licences and offers spaces suited to services, trading, e-commerce and industrial activities.

The zone stands out for its proximity to Ajman Port, the Sharjah and Dubai airports and the road corridors of the northern Emirates. Its legal address nevertheless remains in Ajman. Square Zone therefore first checks whether this location matches your clients, your flows, your bank and your physical presence needs.

To set up your company in Ajman Free Zone, start by comparing the Virtual Office without a visa and the formula with a residence. The right choice mainly depends on your plans to settle in the Emirates. We weigh the price gap, the steps included and the renewal cost to avoid paying for options you do not need.

Pricing and detailed fees

For most of our clients, two offers are enough to compare Ajman Free Zone: the Virtual Office without a visa and the Virtual Office with one visa. The amounts cover one year and the renewal is announced at the same package price.

According to the grid, the visa package includes the establishment card, eChannel, investor security approval, residence, medical test, Emirates ID and status change. Ajman Free Zone or Dubai: how to decide?

Ajman Free Zone can be a sound choice if the entry cost, e-commerce, services or access to a warehouse matter more than a Dubai address. It should not be sold as a Dubai company: the licence, the lease agreement and the legal address belong to Ajman.

A Dubai address can matter for a tender, a lease, a client or a local operation. We therefore compare Ajman against the zones genuinely compatible with your model before settling on the cheapest option.

E-commerce, services or trading licence

The right activity code depends on what the business sells, its channel, where the stock sits and the countries served. An e-commerce licence does not automatically cover all goods, nor every import, storage or distribution operation.

The Virtual Office and Physical Office grid allows up to ten mixed activities, excluding General Trading. It offers Non-Specialized Wholesale Trading as an alternative and lists General Trading for an extra AED 2,000. Square Zone has the exact combination confirmed before payment, to avoid a licence inconsistent with the operations or the banking file.

Visa and Emirates ID

Here, the grid clearly separates the Virtual Office without a visa at AED 5,565 from the all inclusive packages. From AED 13,141 with one visa, it announces the establishment card, eChannel, investor security approval, UAE residence, medical, Emirates ID and status change as included.

The gap between the two offers is AED 7,576. For a founder who wants to settle in the Emirates, that gap remains reasonable given the steps added. It is therefore usually the package Square Zone will recommend to clients who need a residence. Insurance remains separate and the medical test in Dubai adds AED 105.

Tax and compliance

An AFZ company is not automatically exempt from Corporate Tax. The general regime applies 0% up to AED 375,000 of taxable income then 9% on the excess. The Qualifying Free Zone Person regime follows distinct conditions and does not rest on the zone's name alone.

For VAT, mandatory registration for a resident business applies once its taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 over the statutory periods. The voluntary threshold is AED 187,500, subject to conditions. Accounting and filings still need to be organised from day one.

Bank account and KYC file

Ajman Free Zone can issue the company documents useful for the banking file, but the bank keeps its own decision. It reviews the activity, the ultimate beneficial owners, the countries, the clients, the source of funds and the expected flows.

Square Zone prepares the supporting documents, checks the consistency between the licence and the business model, and steers the file towards suitable institutions. We never promise a guaranteed account opening.

Frequently asked questions

about setting up a company in Ajman Free Zone

The AFZ price grid provided to Square Zone shows the Virtual Office at AED 5,565 without a visa and AED 13,141 with one visa. The difference is AED 7,576. The second package covers the announced residency pathway, excluding insurance and a possible surcharge for a medical test carried out in Dubai.

The all inclusive grid states that the Virtual Office with one visa includes the establishment card, eChannel, investor security approval, UAE residence, the medical test, the Emirates ID and the status change. Insurance with an authorised insurer remains mandatory and separate. A medical test carried out in Dubai carries an announced surcharge of AED 105.

Ajman Free Zone offers a digital pathway for the application, document submission, signature and payment. Presence in the Emirates is still required if you apply for a residence that involves a medical examination and Emirates ID biometrics. Some later amendments may also require an in-person signature verification.

The authority publishes more than 3,500 activities covering services, trading, e-commerce and industry in particular. The right licence depends on the actual operations, products, storage, countries served and sector approvals. An activity listed on the licence does not replace the external approvals required.

It can sign contracts and invoice within the scope of its licence. That does not automatically give it the right to open premises, a shop, or physically carry out a regulated activity in Dubai. The applicable licences, permits, customs and approvals must be checked against the actual flow.

No. No licence guarantees acceptance by a bank. The institution reviews the ultimate beneficial owners, the activity, the countries, the clients, the expected flows and the proof of funds. Square Zone prepares the banking file and steers the client towards suitable institutions, without promising their decision.
